Sustainability St Logo

The City of Wollongong NSW and the City of Moreland in Victoria were the first two Municipalities to adopt the Sustainability Street Approach (SSA).

The picture above is the crew from the William Street Village in Wollongong on the day of their "sign raising".

At it's simplest, the SSA is a basic training program in Sustainable Living around home and in the Neighbourhood - at the other end of the spectrum the SSA is a blank canvas for whatever the imagination of a local group dreams up. There have been some remarkable local projects created in Sustainability Street Villages.

Sustainability Street Villages often have a street parade or some other celebration to mark the raising of the local “Sustainability Street – it’s a village out there” street sign.

The picture above is about Cromwell Court Sustainability Street Village hosting a fantastic sign raising ceremony on Thursday afternoon 24th of June, 2007.

Proceedings began with a fabulous parade which wended its way down picturesque Cromwell Court in Blackburn, City of Whitehorse.

Carbonopoly

You may be interested to know that Vox Bandicoot has created a “carbon conscious economy”, Corporate Training simulation activity called Carbonopoly – Play Like You Own The Planet.

This simulation training experience fosters understanding by creating circumstances in which players develop strategies which blend offsets, true cost analysis, Cap and Trade parameters, carbon taxing implications, etc. The “game” was developed and trailed in collaboration with senior management and Board of South East Water Limited.

Gordon Gecko once said "Greed Is Good", but now we know "Green Is Better"!
