quote We developed a cutting edge environmental behaviour change program using the Vox SOSee and they delivered it to 800 staff ... the Vox Bandicoot team’s extensive experience in the environmental education field, teamed with their theatrical background proved a dynamic combination which enthralled staff, united them in their commitment to the program and motivated them to get involved.

Work Life Passion

Introducing “Work Life Passion” …  a new SOSee option ... maximising Workplace & Whole of Life sustainability accomplishments

Sustainability Street Patron Rob Gell once quite lyrically said, that if we (being society)
… treat it like it doesn’t matter, and it turns out that it matters, then it matters! However, if we treat it like it matters then it turns out it doesn’t matter, well, it doesn’t matter! So, how has society gone?

South Eastern Australia is experiencing the longest dry on record, yet 20 years ago, the CSIRO warned of extended drought, cyclones like Larry & Hamish  and more frequent, more intense bush fires.  Nearly 10 years ago Governor A. Schwarzenegger committed California to deep carbon cuts.  Just last year Ross Garnaut said that Australia had more to lose than any other nation from climate disruption and that unless we get it right, humanity will regret it for the rest of time.

The last week of January 2009, saw four days reach toward the mid 40s in Victoria, while northern Australia was flooded.  On Saturday the 7th February, 48.6 degrees was recorded in Hopetoun, Victoria & Melbourne experienced its hottest day on record. Tragically, as we know, bushfires variously described as being like an atomic blast, a first storm, a haulocast, raged.

In terms of our values, environmental education and the changes society must explore, Vox Bandicoot has always said the little things add up, and they do ... but maybe, just maybe we all need to seriously ponder whether they are adding up quickly enough?
Maybe also we need to explore new ways of pursuing environmental education and values clarification.  The Vox SOSee (Sustainable Options & Solutions; environmental and economic) workplace training and development program is built on Eight Pillars that underpin a “supportive workplace culture”, a workplace which fosters sustainability behaviour.  One of the eight is the so-called the “home to work link” and is particularly powerful.

We have now built the “home to work link” more integrally into the SOSee through the development of an option which we are calling Work Life Passion.  WLP is a merging of our two great pedagogies; the Sustainability Street Approach and the SOSee.

Coming Home

Peter Dombrovskis, photographer to the Franklin and Lower Gordon Rivers, said ...

we think that going to the wilderness is "getting away from it all" … it's not … it's actualy coming back to it all … coming back to all that's meaningful about our humanity!"

The most powerful SOSee involves participants in a magnificent, refreshing and deeply meaningful experience with nature. Simply beautiful. Unforgettable.

Carbonopoly®

Carbonopoly ... Play Like You Own The Planet!

Carbonopoly is worlds first Carbon Trading Scheme and carbon market trading floor simulation exercise. Educationally, role play and simulation is well known to provide a deep and visceral understanding. Just ask Quantas why they put pilots through expensive flight simulators. Designed to be fun, competitive and sustainable idea generating, Carbonopoly is a "game" which can run over 3 - 5 hours. The game is based on the proposed Cap and Trade system which Australia's Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, to be introduce in 2010 is itself informed by ipso facto, per se or part thereof.

And the Biodiverstiy Trading Market

We can actually, eventually, remove the carbon from the atmosphere. However extinction is forever! What hope does the IUCN's proposal for a bio-diversity market have for the alarming loss of species and habitats. This has to be the single most exciting melding of ecology and economy in human history, We're finally getting it!

The Workplace "Communiversity"®

We are all learner and we are all reachers. It is amazing the depth of knowledge which already exists in any workplace community. The SOSee taps this most powerful wellspring and gifts the workplace with the inordinate learning capacity of peer on peer education1
