Sustainability live: theatre

Theatre is one of humanity's most resilient means of communication. It has served our species well throughout history … to transfer society's most important stories, ideas, values, norms, objectives and understandings. The amazing new technologies of the information age have their place, however ... art, aesthetics, music and theatricality will never be surpassed.
Fantastic, funny - yet poignant work from the much the loved Vox Theatre Company. Since 1988 and since the start of time, theatricality has been a subtle, non-judgemental, memorable and touching vehicle for certain, very important human communication challenges.

Dr Derek Cox- Institute for Climatic Affairs (Spoof Climate Change Sceptic)

Thought provoking, controversial, hilarious. Dr Derek Cox, author, thinker, flat -earther (spoof). Book him now for your next  Sustainability Conference, before he gets laughed out of town!
Dr Derek Cox,  from the “Institute for Climatic Affairs” is an academic, author, councilor elect and self confessed climate sceptic.   Feel thetension in the room increase, as this ‘flat-earther’ approaches the podiumto deliver his speech titled, ‘How I learned to stop worrying and love global warming’. When he begins he is controversial yet credible,  beratingthe audience and regaling them with his philosophy, statistics andanecdotes. Gradually he becomes more preposterous, until finally the pennydrops and the audience shifts from anger and disbelief, to laughter and relief. In a fitting finale, Dr Cox removes his suit and rides his ownenergy efficient one wheel drive, (a unicycle) across the stage to rapturousapplause. This is a fun, thought provoking and highly entertaining performance, perfect for lightening up environmentally focused conferences.

An absolute world first! We are talking here about a dramatic. "Hip Hopera", puppet show and karaoke opportunity about - the sewer! No, no - stay with us here!

The future of Australia - and the world - is critically dependent upon the degree to which we become supremely smart with water, it cleanliness, allocation and sustainability. The sewers which gurgle away under Melbourne each day are actually comprised of 99.9% water, which, prior to the cistern, was perfectly wonderful, sparkling, clean fresh drinking water! That figure again - 99.9%

Melbourne Water has commissioned Vox Bandicoot to produce a piece of theatre which deals with the greatest threat to this wonderful system which we all take for granted. And what is that? - in short little bits of plastic - like cotton buds, fruit lables and that silly little plastic gift from last Christmas.

Entre` KungFu DaPu protector of truth liberty - and the SewerAge!

Dr Deepwater Show

Ages: All Ages
Duration:
10-20min
Description:
This is a slapstick performance where Dr Deepwater carries out many zany and humorous treatments on his hapless patient.  The diagnosis is that the patient hasn’t spent enough time enjoying the beach.  The show comes to a conclusion that the only cure is for the patient to spend time contemplating, visiting and admiring the marine environment.

Ages: Primary aged children

Duration: 30mins

Description: For small groups of 10-20 the Earth Walk is a wonderful interactive tour of the sound, sights, smells and touch of nature.  This one is only feasible if there is small patch of nature available.  Even a small garden would do.  It is a great way to show the children what caring for their environment is really all about.

Carbonopoly

You may be interested to know that Vox Bandicoot has created a “carbon conscious economy”, Corporate Training simulation activity called Carbonopoly – Play Like You Own The Planet.

This simulation training experience fosters understanding by creating circumstances in which players develop strategies which blend offsets, true cost analysis, Cap and Trade parameters, carbon taxing implications, etc.  The “game” was developed and trailed in collaboration with senior management and Board of South East Water Limited.

Gordon Gecko once said "Greed Is Good", but now we know "Green Is Better"!
